Our Goofs

FAMILY GOOFS, BLOOPERS

& BLUNDERZ

Evan E. sometimes lost tools in Loon Lake while working on his dock.  One day he decided to pull a trick on wife Betty.  He wanted her to think he had gone crazy.

He tied a clear fishing line to his hammer then yelled up to Betty on the steps above him, " Look here Betty".  Then he threw the hammer into the lake.

After he thought Betty was throughly confused he calmly pulled in the line.  To his consternation the hammer was gone.  The lake had claimed another tool!

When Thelma was about 11 years old, the family was waiting on a downtown street corner for the bus home.  Thelma was day-dreaming as she looked in the store windows.  She began to sway, moving with some tune in her head.  Soon she was unconsciously dancing, still entranced with the shop window.

She was unaware that directly behind her was a happy drunk man who after watching her for a few moments began to mimic her movements.  This went on for some time until Thelma became aware of everyone at the bus-stop laughing.

The drunk slunk away after seeing the dirty look Thelma gave him.  Thelma dancing with the drunk man became a favorite family story.

Ernie and Edith M. were packing to move from Oregon to Spokane, WA. about 1953.  Ernie tried to save space so they could fit everything into their small car.

When he saw a large bottle of linament only partly filled, he grabbed a small empty bottle and poured in the linament, not taking time to mark the bottle.

Some weeks later when Edith was baking a cake she unpacked and used her "Vanilla".  It wasn't until they discovered that the cake had an unusual flavor that Ernie remembered what he'd done and fessed up.

This family seems to have a lot of problems baking cakes.  Della remembers the time Thelma was baking a cake, didn't notice that the page had turned and combined two different recipes.Thelma learned to make delicious cakes, which was hard with Wayne slamming doors to make them fall, as he preferred them that way.

Boyd & Leslie W. were newlyweds who hardly knew how to boil water. Their first Thanksgiving they invited another young married couple for dinner. Their kitchen was very tiny, in fact they lived in a remodeled garage. They kept getting in each others way but finally the turkey was done. It took them both to lift it out of the oven, but as they tried to move it onto the platter it slid off onto the floor.

After Leslie shed a few tears & Boyd mopped up the floor, they cleaned up the turkey and served it. The guests didn't notice any difference.

Some time ago Sheryl E. decided to wash her car. With son Joshua she found the hoses. Josh chose the black one & dragged it over to the car & Sheryl hooked up the hose to the faucet. After while Sheryl finished & came into the house, soaking wet, complaining to Doug about the leaky hose. After Doug put the hose away he came in laughing and told Sheryl that she had used the soaker hose.

Doug & Sheryl E. finished their dinner at a restaurant and Doug asked for a doggy bag. As they left their table Doug placed the foam food box under his arm and strolled across the room to the cashier, dripping gravy all the way.

When Thelma W. baked her first cherry pie everyone could hardly wait to dig in. After the first bite they were speechless. They were too busy spitting out the pits she had forgotten to remove.

Anita W. decided to make Jello when they worked at the egg ranch.

She only had a short break so being in a hurry she grabbed the first thing she saw to put it in, which was a pie pan. She hurried across the kitchen to the refrigerator but then realized the pan was empty. She had poured the Jello into a pie pan with holes in the bottom.

When Jeff Mikesell was babysitting young grandson Jimmy E. he took an opened can of hash out of the refrigerator and warmed it for their lunch. When Betty came home and asked what he had found for lunch, he told her. Betty knew that she had no hash so she rushed to the garbage & found the empty can. The brand name on the can was "Dash".  It was dog food!

When David W. was about 9 years old, he was hungry as usual so opened the freezer door to look for a snack. Soon his mom, Leslie, who was in the other room heard a noise. She sent Sheryl into the kitchen to see why David was making such weird sounds. Sheryl came back to report that David had his tongue stuck to the icy freezer shelf.    Warm water poured on his tongue soon solved his problem.

Early one morning, Boyd W. was going out the door, heading for work when he realized that it was garbage collection day.

To save steps, instead of carrying it down to the end of the driveway, 200 feet, then walking back, he placed the plastic can on the trunk of his car and drove slowly down the drive.

His wife Leslie, looked out the window just in time to see Boyd get to the end of the driveway, make a slow turn onto Campbell Road, another turn onto Elder Road and speed up, with the garbage can still upright on the trunk!
