HENRY DEAN - Mohave Valley Daily News, Bullhead City, AZ.  (Aug/4/2004)

Henry Bud Dean passed away on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the age of 80. Henry was born in Roberts, Idaho on September 8, 1933.

Henry was an auto mechanic and as a young man was active in fishing, hunting, and bowling.

Henry was in the Navy and served in Korea and Vietnam. Henry was a member of the local V.F.W.

Henry was preceded in death by his daughter Juanita. He is survived by his wife Eunice; two daughters Deborah Sharp and Marla Payne; two brothers Gilbert L. Dean and Keith S. Dean; one sister Georgia L. Leigh; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Desert Lawn Funeral Home in Mohave Valley, Arizona on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 10:00 am and Funeral Services will be at Desert Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Hope United Methodist Church.

Lyle M. Reneau

RIGBY - Lyle Mikesell Reneau, 74, of Rigby, died at home Sept. 11, 2004, under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Lyle was born March 21, 1930, in Ashton, Idaho, a daughter of Charles A. Mikesell and Minnie Porter Mikesell.

She attended schools in St. Anthony and was a cheerleader for South Fremont High School.

She married Donald Wayne Reneau, Nov. 2, 1948, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Young Women's presidency, Primary presidency and was Relief Society President. She enjoyed quilting, needlework and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Wayne Reneau of Rigby; three daughters, LuAnne Simmons of Ammon, Linda (Clint) Tinker of Lewisville and Yalon (Mark) Yandle of Pocatello; three sons, Blake (Jolene) Reneau of Ogden, Utah, Don (Debbie) Reneau of Roseburg, Ore. and David (Valerie) Reneau of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; a sister Marie Johnson of Sandy, Utah; 43 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Grace Browning and Alice Storms; five brothers, Earl, Roy, Frank, Ted and Blaine Mikesell; and a granddaughter, Gayle Debbie Reneau.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Rigby Fourth Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Rex Miller officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery.

Maxine Bressler Jacobson

JACKSON -- Funeral services for Maxine Bressler Jacobson, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Valley Mortuary in Jackson. Interment will be in Jackson Aspen Cemetery.

She died July 17, 2005, in Ogden, Utah.

Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Ashton, Idaho, to Lyle and Lucille Mikesell Bressler, her early childhood was spent in Ashton and Victor, Idaho. In 1933 her family moved to Moose.

On July 6, 1942, she married Lester Grant Jacobson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They raised their family in Moran, Jackson and South Park. Upon their retirement, they moved to Freedom and later to St. George, Utah. Her husband preceded her in death May 26, 2005.

She was the owner/operator of the Fabric Center in Jackson.

She was a member of the Cowbelles and Eastern Star, a 4-H leader and postmistress. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan and a great supporter of women's softball in Jackson. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, hiking and cross-country skiing, but most of all supporting and being with her family. She was also a stable support for Lester's ranching career.

Survivors include four daughters, Irene Nethercott of Ogden, Louise Mohr of Defiance, Ohio, Janice Willits of Kalispell, Mont., and Denise Higginson of Kemmerer, and their husbands; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Roy Bressler of Round Rock, Texas, Robert Bressler and his wife of Mesa, Ariz., Jack Bressler of St. George and Dell Bressler and his wife of Red Bluff, Calif.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Don and Vern Bressler; and a sister, Mae Luscher.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 845 E. 4800 South, Murray, Utah, 84107.

Della Ann Binder (Mikesell) -

Della Ann Binder passed away on April 17, 2008, surrounded by her family and other loved ones, including her very loving caregiver, Fanny Hanson.

Della Ann was born in Pocatello, Idaho July 21, 1931 to Jefferson and Florence Mikesell who both preceded her in death.

Her husband of over 50 years, Eddie Binder died in April, 2000.  Her brothers, Jefferson, Jr. (died at birth), Ernie, Jim also preceded her in death. 

Della Ann is survived by her first husband, James "Bud" Walsh of Corona, California and her sisters, Betty Erlandson, Thelma Winters and Leslie Wood. 

Left to carry on her legacy are sons Dr. Michael Binder and Patrick Binder (Teresa) and daughters, Beverly Baker, Jeannie Chambers and Naomi Rhodes, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many, many other family members. 

Della Ann was a member of the Genealogy Society, the Bukovina Society and the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren.

Della Ann worked in the restaurant and grocery business for many years. 

The celebration of Della Ann's life will be Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 North Division.  In lieu of flowers, please give to the Hospice of Spokane or the Prader-Willi Association, 8588 Potter Park Drive, Ste 500, Sarasota, FL 34238.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hennessey Smith Funeral Home & Crematory, 2203 N. Ruth L. Hudman

Ruth LaDean Hudman, 89, passed away July 2, 2009, in Rexburg, Idaho, at Homestead Assisted Living. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.

She was born Sept. 30, 1919, to Eli Delbert Mikesell and Mildred Short Mikesell in Idaho Falls. She had three older sisters, an older brother and one younger brother. Her family lived near the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She attended school at Coltman Elementary School and graduated from Ucon High School.

She married Orson Hudman on June 2, 1936, in Bozeman, Mont., and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1972. The young couple lived and worked in Island Park during the summer, and Orson worked in a potato warehouse in the winter. In 1938, they moved to Coltman and purchased a small store, the Coltman Cash Store. It was later remodeled and renamed Hud's Market. The store and their home were gathering places for the community and family. They also worked together as janitors for the Coltman Ward building and grounds for many years.

Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings in the Relief Society, Mutual and Primary. She also served as the ward librarian. She enjoyed doing genealogy work and was most grateful for her 15 years of serving in the Idaho Falls Temple. She developed many close friendships in the community while participating in quilting bees, and fishing and camping trips. Family members and friends were always welcome. If her home was too small, the yard became a campground.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Warren (Karma) Hudman of Idaho Falls and Lloyd (Claire) Hudman of Orem, Utah; brother, Leonard Mikesell of Logan, Utah; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Laura Sullivan, Louisa McCloud and Pauline Roos; and her younger brother, Ronald.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Coltman Ward building, 12448 N. Fifth East, with Bishop Larry Clayton officiating. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and from noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Donald was born on December 1, 1928 and passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009.

Donald was a resident of Rigby, Idaho at the time of his passing.

He attended school in Ashton and graduated from Ashton High School.

He joined the 116th Engineer Bn of the Rigby National Guard in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lyle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Rigby 1st and 4th ward LDS chapel 401 W. 1st South, Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2009 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.

"Betty Lou (Mikesell) Erlandson 7/24/1925 - 2/7/2010 passed peacefully on Sunday at St. Joseph's Care Center. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Evan Erlandson, son Jim Erlandson, grandchildren Jared Erlandson and Tanya White, great grandson Aiden Erlandson, sisters Thelma Winters and Leslie Wood. Two brothers, Ernie and Jim Mikesell and a sister Della Ann Binder predeceased her.

Betty was born in Driggs Idaho, a "Coal Miners Daughter", to Jefferson and Florence Mikesell and moved with the family to Washington in her teens. She attended Riverside High school, then graduated from Lewis and Clark when the family moved to Spokane. She attended Spokane Falls Community College in her mid 40s and earned a Fine Arts degree with a straight A average. She was a devoted member of the Community of Christ church and lived her faith in an exemplary manner.

Betty was an excellent writer having composed beautiful poetry and written a number of plays. She also enjoyed expressing herself by painting and was a skillful nature photographer. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours with her family fishing and camping. Early in life she overcame a crippling disability to her feet and eventually became a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios, where she met, instructed, then married her husband Evan.

A memorial service will be held for this quietly remarkable woman at the Spokane Valley Community of Christ church (11515 E. Broadway) at 1:00 PM on Saturday February 20, 2010."

Betty Lou Erlandson, 84

"A memorial service and reception will be 1 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Spokane Valley Community of Christ Church, W11515 Broadway, for former Elk/Chattaroy resident Betty Lou (Mikesell) Erlandson, 84, who passed away on Feb. 7.

Born on July 24, 1925, to Jefferson and Florence Mikesell in Driggs, Idaho, the family later moved to the Elk/Chattaroy area and she attended Riverside High School. The family moved again to Spokane and she graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

She later worked as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Studios and received a fine arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College.

Mrs. Erlandson composed poetry and wrote plays and was a skilled nature photographer. She enjoyed painting, camping and family fishing outings.

She was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Two brothers, Ernie and Jim Mikesell; and one sister, Della Ann Binder, all predeceased her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Evan; one son Jim Erlandson, two sisters, Thelma Winters and Leslie Wood; and two grandchildren."

Evan Dale Erlandson, born 24 February 1922, at Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, son of Edgar Caspare Erlandson and Ethel Mildred (Cail) Erlandson, married 9 November 1947 to Betty Lou Mikesell, (1925-2010).  Father of James "Jim" Erlandson. Evan died February 4, 2011.

Teresa Kathleen Hamilton "Terry" Dean


Teresa Kathleen Hamilton Dean passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 27, 2011.  She was born June 22, 1950 in Ketchikan, Alaska to Willis and Violet (Skulka) Hamilton Sr.

Terry grew up in Ketchikan where she attended elementary school at the old Main School.  She graduated in 1969 from Ketchikan High School.

Terry married her soul mate, Kenneth M. Dean on June 14, 1969 at the Presbyterian Church in Ketchikan. They made their home in Juneau and were happily married for 41 years.

Terry was a Haida Eagle, Frog (Hlk’ya’an K’ust’a’n) and Sculpin. She was so very proud of her Haida lineage and was active in promotion of the Haida language and culture.  She was a charter member of the Xaadas Gitalang dancers of Juneau; helping to form the dance group in 1984.  She was a talented weaver of Haida basketry and ravenstail, and was a member of the Ravenstail Weaver’s Guild. Terry was a very talented artist, making regalia for herself and other family members.

Both Terry and Ken were active in the community and touched many lives.  They organized and attended the very first PFLAG meeting in 1995, which was called to see if there was interest in forming a Juneau chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.  Terry and Ken were founders and became the core of PFLAG Juneau in the late 1990s and the years that followed. Terry assumed leadership roles and provided support for many parents and family members in the Juneau community.  Terry’s legacy will be her design work on the PFLAG Juneau banner and her logo suggestion for their chapter – “Love has no boundary”. Terry and Ken also founded the local MS Society Support Group, organizing the 1st MS walk with Senator Egan as Master of Ceremonies. Terry and Ken both served the Douglas Lion’s Club for over 20 years and Terry was a member of the Juneau Lioness Club.  She managed the Loan Closet which loaned medical equipment and gave encouragement to the disabled community in Juneau and was sponsored by the Douglas Lion’s Club. Terry and Ken were instrumental in creating the 1st handicapped accessible trail in Juneau, which runs along the Mendenhall River.  

Terry worked for the State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game until 1983, when she joined the University of Alaska Chancellor’s Office.  She continued to serve on the administrative staff of the Provost Office until February of this year.  Terry has the distinction of being the longest serving staff member of the office.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willis and Violet Hamilton; father-in law Gilbert Lynn Dean; her brothers Gideon Duncan Jr., Leonard Alex Hamilton, and Owen Earl Hamilton; sisters Joy Ann Hamilton Cutshall, and Margaret Hamilton (who died at birth); and sister-in law Carla M. Timpone.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth M. Dean, her son Aaron Lynn Dean and wife Audrey of Fairbanks, grandchildren; Jacqueline Michelle Dean, and Victoria Lynn Dean; her sisters Lavina M. Hamilton of Anchorage, and Bert G. Hamilton and Raymond Guthrie Sr. of Ketchikan; her brothers Willis H. Hamilton Jr., Gary Hamilton and Dana Craig Hamilton of Ketchikan; mother-in law LaRaine Dean; sisters-in law Linda L. Lappin and Shirley R. Dean, many nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Fellowship will follow at 429 Deermount.

Georgia Louise [Dean] Leigh.- Georgia was born on September 8, 1935 and passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

Georgia was a resident of Boulder City, Nevada. [Louise was the daughter of Gilbert LaFayette Dean and Mary Linda (Mikesell) Dean. See our obituary index.]

[Thelma Florence (Mikesell) Winters married Wayne Norman Winters on the 17th of August 1952 at the old Spokane Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Spokane, Washington. She had been baptized at that church on 14 June, 1942.  Thelma survived breast cancer but suffered during her last years from Parkinson's disease.  Her ashes are buried at Spokane Memorial Gardens, next to her parents. Thelma Florence (Mikesell) Winters - April 26,1934- October 14, 2011

Thelma passed away surrounded by her family; her husband the love of her life for 59 years, Wayne Norman Winters and daughters Debbie Weber-Winters, Jan Mirus (Mitch), Anita Cooper (Mike) and Ginny Winters. She ls also survived by her sister, Leslie Wood (Boyd).  She was the loving grandmother of Justin Weber (Laura), Thane Weber (Jennifer), Amy Brittain (Chris), Ryan Mirus (Lacy Jo), Melissa Mirus, Michelle and Grant Cooper, Peter Mangum, Candy Winters and great grandchildren Jade and Katie Weber. She leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho to Jeff and Florence Mikesell. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ernest (Edith), Jeff Jr. and Jim Mikesell (Wilma); sisters Betty Erlandson (Evan), and Della Binder (Eddie).

She attended Edison grade school, Libby Jr. High, and Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. Thelma graduated in 1952 from Harper (Oregon) High School. She went to Spokane Community College and became an LPN, graduating at the top of her class.

She was very involved in her church as a leader in women and youth ministries and volunteered working with special needs children. She worked alongside her husband managing the Valleyford egg farm and others. 

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on October 22, 2011 at the Community of Christ Church 11515 E Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA.

Thelma passed away surrounded by her family and Wayne the love of her life for 59 years; daughters Debbie, Jan, Anita and Ginny; also survived by her sister Leslie Wood; nine grandchildren, two granddaughters and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and her dog Gracie.

Mom graduated at the top of her class with a nursing degree. She was a leader in her church with women and youth ministries. She worked many years on the family farm. Mom loved combing the beach, walking the desert, researching family history and reading a good book.

Please join our family for a celebration of her life on Saturday, October 22nd at 2 PM at the Community of Christ Church, 11515 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA."
