"Anna Hultgen Feeney

Anna Hultgen Feeney, 61, for many years a resident of Murray died at the home of her sister, Mrs. E. Nygren, 902 East Twenty-seventh South street, Sunday at 1:50 p.m. after a long illness.

Mrs. Feeney was born in Oslo, Norway, February 16, 1876, a daughter of Anton and Julia Christensen Anderson. She came to the United States 48 years ago and made her home in Murray. In 1925 she moved to Rock Springs Wyo., but six weeks ago came to Salt Lake City to reside with her sister.

Surviving are her husband, F. W. Feeney; two daughters, Mrs. Ira Wardlow and Mrs. James Coles, Rock Springs, Wyo., a son Marlow Hultgren, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Swenson, Murray; Mrs. David Haun, West Jordan, and Mrs Nygren; six brothers, John Anderson, West Jordan; V. E. Anderson, Garfield; A. L Anderson, New Mexico; G. H. and C. L. Anderson, Salt Lake City, and R. W. Anderson, Murray, and four grandchildren."

"Inga H. Anderson
Funeral services for Mrs. Inga Hendricksen Anderson, 77, were held Wednesday afternoon in Murray Second Ward chapel, Bishop Webb Snarr officiating.

Speakers included Albert Larsen, D. H. Snarr and D. B. Brinton.

Mrs. H. W. Cannegieter of East 3 p.m. Second West street. She was born in Norway, September 25, 1864, a daughter of Hans and Ingaborg Jensen Hendricksen. She was married to Oscar M. Anderson, 48 years ago and had resided in Murray since. She was a member of the L. D. S. church.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Wilford Anderson of Dubois, Idaho; Carl I. Anderson of Malad, Idaho, and Alonzo E. Anderson of Long Beach, Cal.; tow daughters, Mrs. Rachel A. Jensen of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Mildred Grubb of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Thulin of Salt Lake City, and 17 grandchildren.

"Funeral service for Oscar Anderson, 73, were held Monday, May 3 in the ward chapel.

Mr. Anderson was born in Oslo, Norway Aug 8 1875. He came to this country when he was 8 years old.

He married Inga Henrickson, April 27, 1894. They built the home at 4640 South Second West where they have lived for almost fifty years. It was here that Mr. Anderson died going quietly to sleep, never to awaken. It was here also that his wife Inga died in 1942.

Mr. Anderson was employed by the American Smelting Co. for thirty years and was pensioned by that company in 1925.

Up until the time he began to suffer from heart trouble, he was active in ward activities.

Surviving are Willard Anderson of Dubois, Idaho, Carl I. Anderson of Wallace Idaho, and Alonzo A. Anderson of Long Beach, Calif. Also two daughters, Mrs. Rachel Jenson of Salt Lake and Mrs. Mildred Lynch of Murray."

"Allen, Nellie Mary - Her home northwest of Chattaroy.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos Allen; 3 sons, Carlos Allen Jr., Ceathel and Earl Allen, all at the home; one daughter, Mrs. LaRaine Dean, Spokane; one brother, William McDowel [McDowell], and one sister, Mrs. Zola Dadis of Prineville, Ore., and 2 grandchildren; a stepmother and one stepsister.

Funeral Mon., Oct 17, at 2 p.m. at the Hennessey Chapel N2203 Division st. Services will be conducted by Mr. Vern Webb, assisted by Mr. Del Coleman [RLDS Ministers]. Interment in the Chattaroy cemetery."

Conrad S. Allen  Last Rites Saturday

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Chapel for Conrad S. Allen, 78, who passed away at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Blackfoot [Idaho] after an illness of several weeks. The Gooding LDS church will have charge of services. Burial will be at Hagerman.

Mr. Allen was a resident of Gooding county the past 30 years. He was well known rancher at Hagerman and Bliss.

Born in Salt Lake City March 28, 1874, he was a son of Samuel and Dorothy Allen [*should be Samuel Allen and Eliza Davids].

He was educated in Sandy, Utah.

He married Annie Anderson at Salt Lake City LDS temple. She passed away in 1916.

Mr Allen farmed at St. Anthony and Dubois before coming to Gooding.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters: Narvel and Clide Allen, Bliss; Carlos Allen of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. J. O. Mikesell of Spokane; Mrs. Clarence Wells of Gooding; Mrs. Lloyd Bulger of Marysville, Calif. There are 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, James Allen of Lava Hot Springs; Julius Allen of St. Anthony; Francis Allen of Pocatello; two half brothers, Bert Nelson of Pocatello; Henry Nelson of Salt  Lake City; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hyde of Rupert, Mrs. Eliza Allen of Pocatello, and a half sister in Salt Lake City.

"Funeral services were held at Thompson Chapel May 10 for Narvel L. Allen, Buhl, former resident of Gooding. 

He died May 7 at the Twin Falls Clinic of a long illness. Final rites were in the Hagerman cemetery.

He was born April 7, 1904, at Salt Lake City, attended schools at Dubois and Bliss, where he was graduated from high school.

Mr. Allen farmed in the Bliss area for many years, and served on the Bliss District Highway Board. He later moved to Gooding, where he worked until his retirement in 1970. In 1970, he and his wife, Lillie Hopkins Allen, moved to Buhl.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife of Buhl; two sons, Dean Allen, Portland, Ore., and Gary Allen, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Joy May) Thomason, Fernwood, and Mrs. Benjamin (Marjory) Shepherd, Long View, Tex.; three stepsons, Dean, Gene, and Howard Hopkins, all Buhl; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Chad (Norma) Thompson, Boise, and Mrs. Dick (Karren) Dey, Jerome; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Mikesell, Spokane; Mrs. Grace Wells, Gooding, and Mrs. Anita Walston, Bliss, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services were under the direction of Bishop Ray Bradshaw and opening prayer was by a nephew, Allen Beall, Philipsburg, Mont. Music was by Orlo and Verna Stevens, speaker was Bob A. Rogers, and closing prayer was by Dwain Butler. The grave was dedicated by a cousin, Fred Singleton of St. Anthony, Id."

Grace Wells

Gooding - Grace Wells, 76, of Gooding, died Thursday, March 26, in Magic Valley Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug 12, 1910, in Lewiston, Utah, she attended school in Hagerman.

She married Grady Beall June 1, 1930, and he died in 1939. She married Clarence Wells Dec. 20, 1940, in American Falls. They made their home in Gooding, where she had resided since.

Surviving are: her husband of Gooding; two sons, Allen Beall of Philipsburg, Mont., and Bill Beall of San Diego; a daughter, Dixie Wells Pfost of Boise; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Gooding LDS Church with Bishop Larry Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Demaray's Gooding Chapel Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Clarence Wells

Gooding  -  Clarence (Bud) Wells, 85 [86], of Gooding, died Tuesday April 12, 1994, at the Gooding County Memorial Hospital.

Bud was born on Oct 27, 1907, near Soldier, Idaho. He attended Gooding High School, graduating in 1927.

In December of 1940, he married Grace Allen Beall and they resided in Gooding for the remainder of their lives. Grace preceded him in death in 1989 [1987]. Bud spent most of his life doing what he loved, which was caring for livestock and supporting the local agriculture community.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Allen and Cornelia Beall, and Bill Beall; a daughter and son in-law, Dixie and John Miyake, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends and admirers.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Demaray's Gooding Chapel. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

"Marguirette "Margie" (Thorp) Allen Hall - 19 July 1908 Bliss Idaho - 21 Sept. 1997 Hamilton, MT.

Margie (Marguirette) Thorp Allen Hall, 89, of Hamilton, Mont. and formerly of Gooding, died Sunday, Sept 21, 1997 in Hamilton.

Margie was born on July 19, 1908, in Bliss, the daughter of Riley B. and Eddith May Parrish Thorp. She received her schooling in Bliss. Margie married Narvel Leslie Allen, July 20, 1925. She and her husband farmed at Bliss for many years where they raised their four children, two girls and two boys.

Margie belonged to the Bliss Community Church, Ladies Aid, and Sunshine Club. For a time she was president of the Bliss P.T.A. also serving as treasurer for a short time. In 1952 they sold the farm and moved to Gooding where she worked at the T.B. Hospital for three years before quitting to go to California for 1 and 1/2 years. On returning to Gooding in 1958 she went to work at the State School for the Deaf and Blind, as a cook.

Margie loved dancing, especially square and round dancing. She was a part time caller with Myron Bliss for the Melody Squares. Margie and Narvel also taught a round dance class for awhile. In 1960 they were divorced.

On July 25, 1964, Margie married Fred Hall. She continued as a cook at the state school until retiring after 12 years in September of 1970.

Margie joined the First Christian Church in Gooding in January of 1986. Fred preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1985; her son, Leslie Dean Allen preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1987; and her grandson, Ronald David Thomason, preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1967.

Her surviving children are two daughters, Joy May Thomason and husband Floyd of Safford, Ariz., and Marjorie W. Shepherd and husband Shep of Longview, Texas; one son, Gary T. Allen and wife, Mary of Arpin, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 23 great-grand-children; seven step great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 1997, at Demaray's Gooding Chapel with Reverend Andy Morris officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Demaray's Gooding Chapel, with family members greeting from 5 to 7 p.m."

"Ruth Allen Strickling,
90, Boise and formerly Gooding, died Feb. 28, 1999 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Boise. 

She was born April 7, 1908 in Oakley, Kans. 

She moved with her family to Bliss in 1913.

 She attended Bliss High School and graduated from Gooding College in 1929.

She married Clide Allen May 7, 1931, in Kimberly.  They farmed at Bliss where she taught school and coached girls basketball.  After Mr. Allen died Dec. 10, 1965, she moved to Gooding. 

She married Forrest Strickling Nov. 17, 1984 in Mesa, Ariz.  They lived in Gooding.  Mr. Strickling died in October 1992.  She remained in Gooding until February 1997 when she moved to Boise.

She was a member of the Bliss Community Church.

She is survived by sons, Lee (Charlotte) Allen, Palmer, Alaska; Doyle (Carma) Allen, Boise; sister, Lois (Don) Dafoe, Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 3 in Gooding with Pastor Bob Larsen officiating.  Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Gooding."

Benjamin F. "Shep" Shepherd  [Husband of Marjorie Allen Shepherd, daughter of Narvel and Margie (Thorp) Allen.]

Benjamin F. "Shep" Shepherd was born July 3, 1916, in Memphis, Texas, to   Benjamin   F. Shepherd, Sr. and Barbara Allen Shepherd. 

He joined his Maker on March 4, 2009.

Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m.on Saturday, March 7, 2009, in First Christian Church, Longview with Dr. Richard Emerson, Dr. Jim Lewis, and the Rev. David Farmer officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be members of First Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Cornerstone Class. 

Shepherd attended Memphis High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

In 1934 he became assistant manager of ladies and infants apparel at JC Penney in Oklahoma City.  He moved in 1939 to Borger, Texas, to become the Department Store Manager of CR Anthony.  In Borger he served as president of the Jaycees. 

In 1941 he became the advertising manager for the Amarillo Times Newspaper and was elected president of the Jaycees. 

He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 becoming a Lieutenant in the Medical Administrative Corp. 

He went back to Amarillo in 1945 opening Shepherd Printing Co. where he met and married Marjorie, the love of his life, and his life long partner.  They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2008. He served as Executive Vice-President of the Texas Jaycees from 1952 to 1954 in Grand Prairie.  They moved in August of 1954 to Longview with their two sons Richard and Jay Cee.  Shepherd had taken on the responsibility of General Manager of the McWilliams Furniture Stores, a position he held until the stores were sold to an investor group in 1971.  The Texas retail Furniture Dealers Assn. named Shep runner-up for Retailer of the Year 1970. 

He was much in demand as a dinner speaker and master of ceremonies.  He was a leader in every professional, fraternal, civic and religious group with which he was associated.  He was an active member of Downtown Kiwinas Club for many years and served as director in Longview Chamber of Commerce and United Way for several years. 

He was designated as Elder for Life at First Christian Church.  He taught the Cornerstone Class for 30 years and served as a Stephen's Minister. Marjorie and Shep were avid round and square dancers.  They served as Presidents of the Oil Patch Promenaders 1995-1997. 

Shep was one of five persons who organized the East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, in 1965.  He was president in 1969.  He retired as director after 37 years consecutive service.  He was recognized as Director Emeritus September 2002. At the same event he received the "Community Champion" award from the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug abuse.  

Shep was motivator for the organizing of the East Texas Chapter of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and served as president the first two years, 1970-72.  He was president of the Texas Association Of Addiction Counselors 1981-83 and was the original inductee to their "Hall of Fame" in 1990.  Hew was honored as "Employee of the Year 1989 by the Sabine Valley Centers.  Shepherd retired in 1991 at age 75. 

The International Certification Reciprocity Consortium presented Shep with The ACE award for "Outstanding, Unique, Continuous Participation and Leadership Contributions of and to the Professionalization and Standardization of Requirements for Certification of Addictions Counselors: State, Nationally and Internationally,"  Rapid City, South Dakota, May 1, 1992. 

Shep was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ronnie J. and Don E. 

He often said that his greatest mortal joy, asset and treasure was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, sons, Richard "Rick" and Anna Maria Shepherd of Longview,  th Rev. Jay and Vivian Shepherd of Longview; grandchildren, Alicia and Jay Wilson of Pace, Florida, Benjamin and Jackie Shepherd of Longview, Texas, Leslie and Paul Marsh of Longview, Texas, Jamin and Lilah Shepherd of Denton, Texas, and Sarah Shepherd of Longview, Texas; great-grandchildren, Grant, Caroline, Claire Wilson, Lily Anna and Cy Shep Marsh, and Marta Gianna Shepherd; sister-in-law, Joy and spouse Floyd Thomason, of Tucson, Arizona; brother-in-law, Gary and spouse Mary Allen of Arpin, Wisconsin; nieces, Janice Turner of Lubbock, Texas, Annette Gaines of Georgetown, Texas, Sondra Johnson of White Oak, Texas, Donice Ronald, Alameda, California; nephew, Rondon Shepherd, Ft. Worth, Texas, and many treasured friends. 

The family wishes to offer special thanks to Dr. C. Randy Martin.

Mrs. Andrew J. Mikesell died this (Thursday morning) at Sam, Idaho where her husband was working in the coal mines. 

Mrs. Mikesell came over from Ashton some time ago and took sick after her arrival, and after a short illness passed away. 

Deceased was the mother of 11 children, all of whom but one were present at the time of her death.

AGED WOMAN DEAD

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Mikesell, aged 84 years died at the home of her grandson, Walter Mikesell, here in St. Anthony, early Monday morning.

A son, Andrew, was at his mother's bedside when she passed away.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of W. M. Hansen, undertaker, Monday and burial was in St. Anthony cemetery.

Mother Survived By Baby Daughter

Mrs. Erma [Emma] Harper Mikesell, 27, wife of George W. Mikesell of 319 N. Johnson, died at a local hospital Sunday night. She is survived by her husband and an infant daughter only a few days old.

The funeral of Mrs. Mikesell will be held at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon from the 4th Ward L. D. S. church. Bishop Lawrence D. Clark. will be in charge of the services.

Mrs. Mikesell was graduated as a nurse from the L. D. S. hospital at Idaho Falls three years ago and came to Pocatello two years ago, when she was married.

Surviving besides her husband and Infant daughter are the following brothers and sisters: James B. Harper and Leo Harper, Rupert; Roderick Harper and Mrs. Lucile Sorenson, Firth; Mrs. Ella Lord, Shelley; Mrs. Cecil Pendlebury, Blackfoot; Lester H. Harper, Los Angeles, Cal.; Duane S. Harper, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Marvin Harper, Rose.

He was a farmer, a veteran of World War 1, and a member of American Legion post No. 136.

Andrew J. Mikesell Dies at Bonners Ferry -

Andrew J. Mikesell 89, passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Sarah E. "Libby" Aller Monday, February 19 at Bonners Ferry from incidents to old age.

Mr. Mikesell was born in Monona County, Iowa, a son of John Mikesell and Sara Skinner Mikesell, on December 5, 1861 being the oldest member of the family and being the last member of the family to pass away.

When he was two years old he came to Weber county with his parents where they lived for several years and where Mr. Mikesell spent his early childhood. 

Later the family moved to Cache County settling at Paradise. While living there he met Harriet Osborn whom he married in the Endowment House at Salt Lake on April 10, 1883. Following their marriage they lived at Lewiston, Utah until 1887 when they moved To Kamas, Utah where they lived until 1901 when they came to Idaho settling at Victor. Later they moved to Ashton where they lived until Mrs. Mikesell passed away on July 8, 1926.

After this Mr. Mikesell lived at Driggs for awhile and for the past 16 years he has lived in Spokane and Bonners Ferry, with his daughter. Mr. Mikesell was very active and was engaged in logging and cutting timber nearly his entire life.

To this union 11 children were born 10 of whom survive. They are Charles A. Mikesell, St. Anthony; Ernest J. Mikesell, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Sarah E. "Libby" Aller, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Jefferson O. Mikesell, Spokane, Wash.; Henry D. Mikesell, Driggs, Idaho; Frank A. Mikesell, Victor, Idaho; Willard Mikesell, Pocatello, Idaho;  Walter H. Mikesell, Ogden, Utah; Mary L. Dean, Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Lucille Bressler, Jackson, Wyoming.There are also 40 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren surviving.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Hansen Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Robert Smith of the St. Anthony second ward officiating. The opening song "Not Understood" was sung by Bruce Reynolds of Ashton with Mrs. Vera Orr acting as accompanist.  The invocation was offered by a grandson Walter Mikesell.  The obituary was then by Bishop Robert Smith followed by the first speaker J. R. Cluff of Victor.

Mrs. Julia Richins and Reed Richins, accompanied by Mrs. Carrie Laurizen, all of Victor, then sang "In The Garden".  The concluding speaker was Bishop Delos Laurizen, formerly of the Victor ward, after which the closing remarks were offered by Bishop Smith. The closing song "Somewhere A Voice is Calling" was sung by Bruce Reynolds with Mrs. Vera Orr acting as accompanist. The benediction was offered by Max Johnson a grandson.

Internment was in the Pineview cemetery at Ashton under the direction of the Hansen Funeral home and the grave was dedicated by W.M. Hansen.  Pallbearers all grandsons were Walter J. Mikesell; Earl Mikesell; Harvey Mikesell; Hyrum Mikesell; Gene Mikesell and Dell Bressler. Flowers were carried by Granddaughters and they were Wilma Mikesell; Emma Jo Mikesell; Erma Mikesell; Sherry Mikesell; Marie Johnson; Mabel Sewell; Carma Jenson; Grace Browning; Alice Fransen; Mae Bressler and Maxine Jacobson under the direction of  Ada Thornock and Audrey Hathaway of the St. Anthony second ward Relief Society.

Jefferson O. Mikesell, 74, manager of the Blue Bird Motel until his retirement about a year ago, died today in a hospital.

A Spokane-area resident since 1938, he was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Florence, at the home, E1214 Rockwell; two sons, Ernest, Salem and James Mikesell, Moses Lake; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Erlandson, Mrs. Della Binder, Mrs. Leslie Wood and Mrs. Thelma Winters, all of Spokane; 14 grandchildren; five brothers, including Ernest Mikesell, and three sisters, including Mrs. Elizabeth Aller and Mrs. Mary Dean, all of Spokane.

The body is at Hazen & Jaeger's.

Obituary, 1966 Copeland, Boundary Co., Idaho - Funeral Services are Held Wednesday for Mrs. Elmer Aller [Marjorie Adaline (McDole) Aller - 11 May 1919-22 Dec 1966] 

Mrs. Elmer (Marjorie Adaline) Aller, longtime Boundary county resident, passed away at her home in Copeland Dec. 22nd following a lingering illness.

She was born May 11, 1919, at Touchet, Wash., the daughter of Albert S. and Esther Bosley McDole.  At the age of five she moved with her parents to Troy, Ore., where she grew up and received her education.

On Sept. 1, 1934, she married George Elmer Aller at Lewiston, Idaho.  They farmed in Oregon, Idaho and Washington until 1944, when they moved to Boundary county and purchased a farm at Copeland, where she resided at the time of her death. 

She was a member of the Bonners Ferry Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

Surviving are her husband, at Copeland; two sons, David of Palouse, Wash., and Elmer at Moscow, Idaho; two daughters, Ethel Heinemann of Copeland and Ellen Irons of Springfield, Va.; two brothers, Albert McDole of Woodland, Calif., and Harris McDole, in California; a sister, Bonnie Carter of Seattle; also six grandchildren. 
 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial chapel, with Elder Wayne Winters officiating.  Interment, directed by Hillcrest, was in Grandview cemetery.  Pallbearers were Marvin Houck, R. J. (Bud) Roland, Edward Houck, Dale Nieman, D. O. Haagenson and Hugh Brazee.
