I just wanted to wish all of you the most blessed of holidays seasons.  Time is too short, so love each other with all of your hearts, as you never know when our day will come.  I am not sending out Christmas cards this year, as I can't afford to, and am also not in the Christmas Spirit this year without Mom.  I am so very sorry that I have not contacted you my sweet Aunts, Uncles and Cousins -- I'm just having such a very hard time since April 17th.  I hope you all will stay safe, and know that even if you don't hear from me, you are all always in my heart -- I love you all, and you all are always in my prayers.   God Bless you all!!!!!

Merry Christmas Memaw

I just wanted to wish you my Memaw (my name for my mom) a very blessed Christmas, as you are in the best place ever.  I miss you so very much every single day my dear Memaw, and this Christmas is going to be ever so hard without you.  I just can't seem to get in the Christmas Spirit this year because of you not being here.  I just hide in my house because I am so very sad every day since you left.  I miss having morning coffee with you, and taking you shopping, and just spending time with you talking.  You were the glue that held our immediate family together as best you could, and now that is gone as well, and you know why, as you see everything from where you are at.  You know all the truths -- you know all and see all.  Thank you so very much Memaw for your acknowledgement of me on the night you passed by playing the "Walton's Theme" that no one else could here but me.  That was the most special gift you ever gave me.  You knew I had gifts as you did as well, which no one, except me, ever knew.  I promise to use the gift you've given me always for good, never evil.  I miss you so very very much Memaw, you were the greatest Mom ever.  I am glad you are not suffering any more, and wish I didn't have to either, yet someday we will be together again, and we will know each other once more.  God bless you Memaw, and please come see me sometime.  I love you more than anything else Memaw, and I miss you so very very much -- it hurts so bad.  Give my love to Wayne Covey, Betty Covey, Dad, Lonnie Wood, Herald Vigue, Randy Gierke, Mary Lewis, Nancy Saunders (my boys other Grandma), Cindy (Naomi's friend), Lynn, and all the other people that have passed over within the last few years or so that I can't remember at this time.

Expecting

Chris And Tiffany Aller of Ft. Worth, TX are expecting Catherine Elizabeth Aller on Oct. 18, 2008.

The pregnancy has been going well. We just began seeing the doctor every 2 weeks for the home stretch. My dad, Dave Aller will be visiting for Thanksgiving and getting to know his newest Grand Daughter. I can't tell you how much we are looking forward to being parents. The amazement of life in the belly has changed many thought processes and priorities.

BINDER, Della A. (Age 76) Passed away April 17, 2008 Community Cremation Service, Spokane, WA

Della Ann Binder (Mikesell) - Della Ann Binder passed away on April 17, 2008, surrounded by her family and other loved ones, including her very loving caregiver, Fanny Hanson.  Della Ann was born in Pocatello, Idaho July 21, 1931 to Jefferson and Florence Mikesell who both preceded her in death.  Her husband of over 50 years, Eddie Binder died in April, 2000.  Her brothers, Jefferson, Jr. (died at birth), Ernie, Jim also preceded her in death.  Della Ann is survived by her first husband, James "Bud" Walsh of Corona, California and her sisters, Betty Erlandson, Thelma Winters and Leslie Wood.  Left to carry on her legacy are sons Dr. Michael Binder and Patrick Binder (Teresa) and daughters, Beverly Baker, Jeannie Chambers and Naomi Rhodes, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many, many other family members.  Della Ann was a member of the Genealogy Society, the Bukovina Society and the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren. Della Ann worked in the restaurant and grocery business for many years.  The celebration of Della Ann's life will be Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 North Division.  In lieu of flowers, please give to the Hospice of Spokane or the Prader-Willi Association, 8588 Potter Park Drive, Ste 500, Sarasota, FL 34238.

We have gotten some lovely cards from some of you. Thanks so much for keeping in touch. Those of you that are not sending cards this year can add your greeting here. We'd like to hear from you all.

 

I have been busy and fairly healthy for my age. Boyd needs to slow down & quit working so hard. But he has worked hard all of his life & thinks he can't quit now. We're thinking of those of you who have not been well. May God bless you in the coming year.

 

We have snow on the ground here & more coming tonight. The weatherman says it will be a white Christmas for us. We have our own "Christmas card" scenery when we look out our windows at this old farm. I think we will stay home for Christmas this year. We spent a great Thanksgiving with the Winters family. We had 10 family members at the table. I'd better quit rambling & end here.

I have sent these people e-mails asking how they are related to our extended family & have received no answer back from two of them. When I emailed the last one it came back as a delivery failure. Della Ann

Hi all...thank you for all of the prayers for mom....She had a small heart attack and spent Monday and Tuesday in ambulances going to the E.R. at Sacred Heart.She fell during the heart attack  (actually fell both days...) and tore the maniscus in her knee.  She also has a broken wrist....She already had congestive heart failure and emphysema....She is quite a fighter...  I think she is doing better as she was able to come home Friday night.  She is having people coming in from "Visiting Nurses Assn" to help her because she is not able to have surgery.  She is also on heart meds and has nitro...Her spirits are really good and she really enjoyed the visits, the calls and the flowers.....I hope all of us offspring have as much strength as the aunts and uncles and grandparents of this family when it comes to illness.  The faith is a great big part of it, too.Hope this finds all of you doing well..

Thelma's young grandson, Grant, has been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. His doctors don't know yet if he was treated in time to prevent serious heart complications. His family ask that we pray for him. Leslie

I have a few questions about this photo. As I read the identifications, there are a couple missing names. Who is the lady to the left of Charles Mikesell in the front row? I know the June Aller and Sherry Mikesell are the two little girls in front. Also, who is Dell Bressler? I don't have him in my tree.

Darlene, I hope you see this big  thank you  for the photos you sent to me. Everyone looks so good. I tried to e-mail you & then Gerri but they came back. Have you changed your e-mail address? If so e-mail me with your new one. Looks like Bryan & Ruth had a beautiful celebration. Seems like yesterday when we went to your 25th. It's was good to see the photos of the family get-together.

 

Your house must have looked very festive with all the outdoor Christmas decorations. We only had our large star on the barn lit for Christmas. It can be seen from the hiway a mile away & some of the neighbors reminded us to plug it in. Better late than never. We didn't get our Christmas lights up on our fence & the large blow-up Snowman family stayed in the box. I hope we can get in the Christmas spirit earlier this year.

 

My thank you e-mail went on to complain about the sub-freezing weather we were having but that is long gone so I've got nothing to complain about anymore. I envy you your roofers. A lot of our roofing on the house & out buildings has "gone with the wind" last year. Boyd's busy with the pump business & I am still trying to keep my brain working by adding to our family's genealogy. Best wishes, Leslie

This is for all you cooks out there looking for something a
little different......... 

 

WANT TO HAVE FUN AT A PARTY? PREPARE THIS RECIPE! COMPLETELY
EDIBLE, 
BUT 
YOUR FRIENDS MAY NOT THINK SO! 

 

On a recent visit to our veterinarian to get shots for our cat
I  found this recipe on the waiting room bulletin board. After
recovering from hysterical laughter, I obtain ed a copy from the office staff
so that my wife could make it, which she refused to do. I took it to work
and gave the recipe to a lady at work who loves cats. The pictures
below show the results of her work. It doesn't look very nice, but it's
actually quite tasty, so I decided to pass it along.

CAKE INGREDIENTS: 
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix 
1 box of white cake mix 
1 package e white sandwich cookies 
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix 
A few drops green food coloring 
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS" 
1 NEW cat-litter box 
1 NEW cat-litter box liner 
1 NEW pooper scooper

1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in
any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small
batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food
coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set
aside.

2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a
large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough
pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and
pour in mixture.

3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft
and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved point s. Repeat with three
more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture.
Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter
the green crumbs lightly over top.

 

4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them
on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat
the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable an d hang it over the
edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with
scooper.

Letter From Jesus Christ, concerning His birthday celebration.

Dear children,

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of you're predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth just, GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Now, having said that let Me go on.

If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa's and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.  

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can & may remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching explaining who I am in relation to you & what each of our tasks were. If you have forgot that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.  

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it.

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time. 

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.

3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up.  It will be nice hearing from you again.  

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.  

5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take his own life this season because he feels so alone and hopeless?  Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile it could make the difference. Also, you might consider supporting the local Hot-Line: they talk with people like that every day.

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one.

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary, especially one who takes My love & Good News to those who have never heard  My name. You may already know someone like that.

9. Here's a good one. There are individuals & whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them (and I suspect you don't) buy some food & a few gifts & give them to the Marines, the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me & they will make the delivery for you.

10. Finally if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine. 

P.S Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me & do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above & get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you  love and remember, I LOVE YOU. Jesus

Wood family update

Hi family, Welcome to our new members!

 

Here's what the Wood family has been up to. We're all in good health. Boyd , Sheryl & Josh had a great time on their 2 week trip east in Sept. They attended the Wood family reunion in West Virginia & took tours of our nation's capital & other historic sites. They took lots of photos which I will soon add to our albums here. They brought home enough old family photos & Wood gravestone photos to keep me busy all winter adding them to our family history.

 

While they were gone David & I did some barnyard organizing. We cleared a large area for extra parking & for Lisa to have a flower garden next spring.

 

Now Boyd & David are working hard everyday on their pump service business & the old farm is busy with hay buyers.

Just wanted to let you know that mom is doing good.She had a stroke last Tuesday but with the help of nurses and physical therapists coming in, she is making a good recovery.  As soon as Aunt Leslie helps me to put some pictures on, I have some good ones for all to see....Just wanted you to know that things are good and we appreciate the prayers and visits.
