"My mom Thelma is in the hospital at holy Family. She has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She was having trouble breathing so I took her in this morning. Her blood pressure has been really high, and she has fluid on her lungs. not sure if they are going to keep her overnite or not. but they are giving her oxygen and medication. We would appreciate your prayers for her. Thanks a lot! Ginny"

ReplyDelete1 July 2009, 5:45 p.m. Wayne just called and told me that Thelma has had trouble breathing the last 3 mornings so that's why they took her to the hospital. Doctors think she has congestive heart failure. They took the fluid from her lungs and plan give her a (chemical, not treadmill) stress test tomorrow. She might even get to come home tomorrow if she gets no worse. She didn't need this, she has enough trouble with her Parkinson's disease. She still needs your prayers and add Wayne too, as this is stressful to him. Leslie

ReplyDelete"Here's an update on Thelma (Ginny's mom) first I want to thank EVERYONE who has been praying for her. she is doing better this evening. Still in the hospital for overnite and will probably have a stress test in the morning. They did 3 EKG's and she has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and a rt bundle branch block in her heart. They are still unsure if she had a heart attack or not... tests are unconclusive. Will learn more tomorrow. She is on a Nitro drip and oxygen. Made a trip around the room with her new friend the monitor and actually ate half of her dinner. So she is doing so much better than this morning. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Thanks so much, I will continue to keep you in the loop as I learn more. Love you all! Ginny (and Wayne)"

ReplyDelete"Hi prayer warriors, here's the latest update on my mom. Okay, now first take into account that neither my Dad or I were at the hospital when the cardiologist came by... and I really didn't get a chance to talk to the nurse.... so this is straight from Mom (who sometimes gets confused).
Apparently mom's heart valve is not working correctly and 30% of the blood is not doing any good. There will not be any surgery as it was discussed that she would probably not survive the ordeal. She still has fluid on her lungs. They are giving her lasix to get it out of her system and have limited her intake of fluids.
They will be changing up her medications, and putting her on a strict diet. (NO MORE PIE!!!) no more salt, no more gravy etc. The dietitian is coming in tomorrow to explain what she can have and since Dad buys the groceries and does all the cooking he will need to be there.
She will be staying in the hospital until the fluid is off of her lungs. Not sure how long that will be and then there is talk about her going to a nursing home. I will find out more on that tomorrow and let you know. Thanks again for your prayers and support. If you do want to visit or call, she is in room 541 bed 1 at Holy Family Hospital. Love, Ginny"

ReplyDelete"Dear Friends and Family, thank you so much for the prayers for my mom. It is truly a miracle that she most likely gets to come home today. No mention of nursing home! yea!
They took her off of the oxygen this morning and she seems to be doing okay. So she is no longer hooked up to anything. She looks so much better and they got a lot of the fluid off of her lungs so she is breathing without trouble. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, it does make a difference! Love to you all, Ginny"
